General enrollment

New families will be subject to a non-refundable registration fee of $75.

Students returning to PlayThrive the following academic year may reserve a spot by submitting a non-refundable deposit of $150 on or before the designated due date, which will be announced by end of April each year. This amount will be applied to the first tuition payment.

PlayThrive has a limited number of 3-day enrollment spaces available at each grade. Preference for these spaces will be given to returning students, then siblings, and then new students.  Once these spaces are full, interested families will be given the option of a full-time space, if capacity allows, or a spot on the waitlist. This is to ensure a regular operating income and consistent student-to-teacher ratio.

Enrollment During the School Year

PlayThrive accepts students during the school year if space is available.  Please reach out to to discuss availability.

Enrichment classes

Enrichment classes are fee-based programs offered by PlayThrive throughout the year as an opportunity for students to test new areas or disciplines.  Classes take place at PlayThrive during regular after-school hours. Previous offerings include piano, abacus, and theater.

Classes are made available to all current students on a first-come, first-served basis, at a preferred rate.  If PlayThrive is unable to fill enrollment for an enrichment class from within its current student base, the option to enroll may be extended to the wider John Gill or Redwood City communities at a non-preferential rate.

All non-PlayThrive families enrolling in enrichment classes must read and sign the PlayThrive handbook and be registered with Curacubby for invoicing purposes.  The enrollment fee charged by Curacubby will be credited against the cost of the first enrichment class invoice.

Student assessments

Certain enrichment classes may require a teacher assessment if a student joins after the 1st class or at a higher level without having taken the preceding courses.  In these cases, the assessment will take place in the first class. If the student is successful, the full class fee will be invoiced. If the student does not meet the expectations, then no fees will be charged.

If, at any other time, a teacher feels a student is not equipped to succeed in the class, the course fees will be refunded on a prorated basis.


Tuition payment

We only accept payments through Curacubby.  To set up recurring payments for tuition:

  1. Link your bank account or credit/debit card to your Curacubby account
  2. Enroll in auto-pay via the Billing section

Please note credit card payments are subject to a convenience fee of 2.9% + $0.55 per transaction.

Payments made through Curacubby should be reflected on your account automatically.  

Please note that Curacubby’s auto-pay feature only applies to regular enrollment invoicing.  Any invoices for enrichment activities, late fees, etc. will require an authorized user to approve payment before the due date.

Receipt Request

Curacubby retains payment details in two sections:

  1. Ledger: View invoices & payments on your account for any date range.  The full ledger is available for download for your records.
  2. Invoices: individual payments against invoices.  This provides more details on a per-invoice basis.  When paid, each invoices updates to include payment date and method and is also available to download for your records.

Additional receipt of payment are provided upon request.  Retain all receipts and canceled checks for your records. PlayThrive reserves the right to charge an administrative fee of $30 for additional or lost copies. Please contact for these matters.
